My Review:  What a fun way to teach how to tie a bow.  One skill that is missing in this day and age is teaching your child how to tie.  As a teacher, I speak from experience.  I remember this use to be a required skill to even get to go to kindergarten back in my childhood days.  Who would of thought of a rabbit and fox friendship to teach this skill.  The illustrations are bright and colorful as well.  Little girls would love the pink, butterflies, and bows what a combination. Little boys my fill little out with the first half of the book.  Maybe future book would be geared toward a boy camping theme, etc.  However, Cloe Can Tie a Bow is a very needed book and very well written.

Patrick Turns His Play into Pay is a cute picture book.  It is written in rhyme meter.  A little boy who is in need of money and solves his problem buy baking something yummy to sell and get some money.  His Madea teaches him the basics and Dad and Mom help when they don't have the money to give him right on hand.  If you have a young budding entrepreneur be sure to get this book to help motivate them to keep their dream alive at all cost, even when they get told no with the first few customers.  The illustrations in this book look as though they are done in chalk or pencil.  Can't wait to read other books in this series.

“Patrick Turns His Play Into Pay” is the 1^st book in a series of children’s books authored by husband and wife writing partners, Shani and Patrick Muhammad. The idea for the book was created one night while trying to explain the reason there was a gigantic, neon, pink and orange food-truck, now sitting in their front yard to their then 4 year-old Qadeer.   Patrick and his wife came up with the idea that they would write a keepsake item for all their children, detailing the road they took to becoming entrepreneurs.  The primary message is simple. By tapping into your passion early in life you can turn your playdays into paydays.  Once the book was published they both realized that the story could not only inspire their own children to entrepreneurship, but others as well. Shani figured out how to self-publish it and Patrick would take it to different youth groups in his community.   “I began shopping the book around to childcare centers and non-profits that served young people in the projects and the adults loved it.  “They really loved the idea that it was based on a true story and that the message was coming from a black male perspective. A story their children could relate to.  The images were brown like them and I just always got a positive response.  We took that book everywhere with us, and the response was this is a message that’s needed.  Children can’t be what they can’t see.”

Patrick currently lives in South Florida with his wife and three of his youngest five children.  He has a passion for planting the seed of entrepreneurship and carving out wealth building opportunities for his children’s generation. This book is whimsical and makes you feel as if you are with Maggie right there making her wishes for her Nana's health.  I made many connections reading this book as my own mother who will be 81 on Jan 6th is in poor health.  All the wishes I'd love to give to my mother...good health  yes I know that the new body she will have as she passes from earth to Heaven and at this point in her life that is the only relief she'll get when God calls her home.  She's ready to go Home and be with Dad and my brother.  But we are sad for her to leave us.  The book makes you dream along with Maggie that is for sure.  The illustrations help set the mood.  Very well done for sure.

LaLa Feels Blah-la is nice short story to help children learn that they have control of their feelings.  They are the only ones that can turn their feelings around.  No one change their feelings except them.  It is a short quick to the point read.  Not many words on a page which is what many kids look at when they open a book.  An excellent teaching tool/resource.  The illustrations are big and bold.  They are easy for a whole group/class to see if you wish to read it for a class read aloud.

Meet the Author

As the daughter of a librarian, Tela Kayne grew up reading countless literary works of all genres in quiet corners of the local library. She developed the love of writing at an early age, penning theatrical productions that were performed in the family living room for an audience of loved ones. She officially began her creative career as a young actress in Atlanta, having appeared on stage in a variety of roles including Puck of Midsummer Night’s Dream and Alice in Alice in Wonderland.

After graduating college Summa Cum Laude from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and working a short stint in the “real world,” she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film. After securing her Screen Actor’s Guild membership through appearances on television shows like G vs E, The Parkers and Get Real as well as films like Down to You, Almost Famous, and Disney’s The Kid, she decided to garner more behind-the-camera experience. She secured internships at Scott Rudin Productions, one of Hollywood’s most prolific and demanding producers and Mostow Lieberman Productions (U-571) at Universal Studios. She soon accepted a paid position with executive producer Chris Sievernich and discovered her love of screenplay development, running the coverage department for Kinowelt USA and assisting in the development of projects like Nurse Betty, The Wedding Planner and Welcome to Collinwood. After several years of working in Hollywood, she returned home to Atlanta in 2001 to focus on a career in strategic marketing.

As president and founder of The Virtue Agency, an integrated content development and marketing agency, Tela has spent the last fifteen years writing content and maximizing brand exposure and engagement for clients. The author did an excellent job bringing the Bible story of David and Goliath and the subject of bullying together.  I loved how she brought them together.  It's a wonderful message that children need to be taught.  I have read many of Cheryl's books through the years and she has always been right on point.  We need more Christian books like this for young children to have in their hands.  The illustrations fit in well with all the computer animation for kids these days. They are colorful, bold, and help get the message across.  I'm putting this one in the church library for sure.
