monday daybook ~ April 30th

Outside my window...the sun is shining brightly, the birds are singing in chorus

I am thinking…I need to check out my kitchen situation

I am thankful for...SONshine

From the kitchen…all is quite right now but don't go out there.  I had a pipe leak under the sink this weekend so everything is in the middle of my kitchen floor that was under the sink.  Hopefully, hubby will be able to fix it this evening.

I am wearing…jean skirt and flowered top

I am creating…a packing list

I am going…to be leaving for VA on Saturday.

I am reading…SuperLuke faces his Bully by Dr. Jackie C. Cogswell

I am hoping…to get my oven cleaned before I leave for VA

I am hearing...The hum of my computer and tic of the clocks around me.

Around the house…school work is being accomplished. trying to finish school this week.

One of my favorite things...Reading

A few plans for the rest of the week…getting ready to leave for VA

Photo for thought...don't have one at the present time.

Day by Day....

This is one of my favorite songs.... just want to share the words today.

Day By Day
(here mp3 of this song here)
  1. Day by day, and with each passing moment,
    Strength I find to meet my trials here;
Trusting in my Father's wise bestowment,
I've no cause for worry or for fear.
He, whose heart is kind beyond all measure,
Gives unto each day what He deems best,
Lovingly its part of pain and pleasure,
Mingling toil with peace and rest.
  2. Every day the Lord Himself is near me,
    With a special mercy for each hour;
All my cares He fain would bear and cheer me,
He whose name is Counsellor and Pow'r.
The protection of His child and treasure
    Is a charge that on Himself He laid;
"As thy days, thy strength shall be in measure,"
This the pledge to me He made.
  3. Help me then, in every tribulation,
So to trust Thy promises, O Lord,
That I lose not faith's sweet consolation,
Offered me within Thy holy Word.
Help me, Lord, when toil and trouble meeting,
E'er to take, as from a father's hand,
One by one, the days, the moments fleeting,
Till with Christ the Lord I stand.

CATCHUP!!!!!

Today and Next week I'm going to try to Catch-up only to find myself behind again because then I'll be gone totally for a week.  So today is get 'er done day#1.  I have to schedule a weeks worth of post so you all have something to read new each day while I'm gone.  Where am I going?  I'm taking a LLLLLOOOONNNNGGGG fast trip.  Next Saturday I will get on Amtrak here in ND and take it all the way to Lynchburg, VA; which will take me all day Sunday and Monday meeting up with connecting trains.  Then on Tues.  morning I will help pack my college daughter's car and Tues. afternoon we'll head back to ND, hopefully arriving late Friday evening .  So I'll be totally traveled out and on the road and disconnected from cyberspace the whole week.  SSSSSSOOOOOO then I'll  be behind again.  That is the story of my life I believe.  However, I'm hoping to have stuff scheduled to appear while I'm gone so you all have new things to read.  In the mean time I'd better get going.  You all have a super weekend.

Test #1 DONE!!!!

2.5 hours later and 110 multiple choice questions on EE - Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment.  I'm done with the first of two tests I needed to take for state teacher license renewal.  WOOHOO!  Received a composite score of 167 needing 158 so guess did well.  Now I have to take next test later in summer, fall or next spring.  I thinking I'm choosing the sooner maybe of the three.  We'll see.

The Sound of Red Returning by Sue Duffy

Be sure to read to the end of this post as there is a book giveaway included.

This week, the
Christian Fiction Blog Alliance
is introducing
The Sound of Red Returning
Kregel Publications (December 9, 2011)
by
Sue Duffy

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Sue Duffy is an award-winning writer whose work has appeared in Moody magazine, The Presbyterian Journal, Sunday Digest, and The Christian Reader. She is the author of Mortal Wounds (Barbour, 2001), Fatal Loyalty (Kregel, 2010), and The Sound of Red Returning (Kregel, 2011). Sue has also contributed to Stories for a Woman’s Heart (Multnomah). She and her husband, Mike, have three grown children.

ABOUT THE BOOK

After losing everyone she loves, concert pianist Liesl Bower has nowhere to go but to escape into her music. Searching for the peace she usually finds in her concertos and sonatas, Liesl can't shake the feeling that she is being haunted by her past . . . and by someone following her. When she spots a familiar and eerie face in the audience of a concert she's giving for the president in Washington, DC, the scariest day of her life comes back to her with a flash.

It has been fifteen years since Liesl watched her beloved Harvard music mentor assaulted on a dark night in Moscow and just as long since the CIA disclosed to her that he'd been spying for Russia. She had seen that man-that eerie face-the night Professor Devoe was attacked. And now he's back-and coming for her.

Read my Review of the book here.

ENDORSEMENTS:

“Sue Duffy has mixed the mayhem of political intrigue with the melody of romance.” —Dick Bohrer, author, editor, and former journalism professor

“Intrigue and suspense come together in an incredible story of love and betrayal, commitment and courage, power and danger . . . and a God who controls it all. Sue Duffy is a wonderfully gifted writer and this book is a must-read.” —Steve Brown, founder and president of Key Life and host of Steve Brown Etc.

If you would like to read the first chapter of The Sound of Red Returning, go HERE.

I have a copy of this book for giveaway.  If you'd like a chance at winning, please leave a comment. Sorry but must limit this to US mailing addresses only.  Since I've been studying for a test here of late I'll make this easy.  Just be a follower of my blog - GFC or email and tell me what you have been doing of late.  I'll draw a winner for this book from those comments that meet requirements on Monday, May 14th.  Be sure to leave a way of contact.  Thanks.

Her Restless Heart by Barbara Cameron

This week, the
Christian Fiction Blog Alliance
is introducing
Her Restless Heart
Abingdon Press (April 2012)
by
Barbara Cameron

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Barbara Cameron is the author of more than 30 fiction and nonfiction books, three nationally televised movies (HBO-Cinemax), and the winner of the first Romance Writers of America Golden Heart Award. Her two novellas won the 2nd and 3rd place in the Inspirational Readers Choice Contest from the Faith, Love, and Hope chapter of RWA. Both were finalists for the novella category of the Carol Award of the American Christian Writers Award (ACFW).

When a relative took her to visit the Amish community in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, she felt led to write about the spiritual values and simple joys she witnessed there. She currently resides in Edgewater, FL.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Mary Katherine is caught between the traditions of her faith and the pull of a different life. When Daniel, an Amish man living in Florida, arrives and shares her restlessness, Mary Katherine feels drawn to him and curious about the life he leads away from Lancaster County.

But her longtime friend Jacob has been in love with her for years. He’s discouraged that she’s never viewed him as anything but a friend and despairs that he is about to lose Mary Katherine to this outsider.

Will the conflicted Mary Katherine be lost to the English world, or to Daniel, who might take her away to Florida? Or will she embrace her Amish faith and recognize Jacob as the man she should marry and build a life with?

If you want to read the first chapter of Her Restless Heart, go HERE.

4 pillowcases 4 A Cause

Handmade by Heidi

ARGH!!!!  Why did they have to change blogger on me??????  Now I have to get use to the new set up.   Why can't they just leave it alone?  It was working fine......
My motto:  Ain't broken no need to fix it.

OK so last night was April's Sew-In  Heidi and Bobbi put out a challenge for making Pillowcases for ConKerr Cancer project.   Sew guess what I did?   Yep....

4 pillowcases done from start to finish.  I could maybe do two or three more we'll see what I get time to do between now and mailing them out.  This coming week I have a test so I've been buried in the books and will be til Thursday.  But I had to take a break from studying to get in my sewing...Can't wait to see everyone's pillowcases that participated.  Loved the challenge.  All for a good cause.

Prophet by R.J. Larson

This week, the
Christian Fiction Blog Alliance
is introducing
Prophet
Bethany House Publishers (April 1, 2012)
by
R.J. Larson

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

R. J. Larson is the author of numerous devotionals featured in publications such as Women's Devotional Bible and Seasons of a Woman's Heart. She lives in Colorado Springs, Colorado, with her husband and their two sons. Prophet marks her debut in the fantasy genre.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Close your eyes, Ela of Parne. Close your eyes and you will see.

Ela Roeh of Parne doesn't understand why her beloved Creator, the Infinite, wants her to become His prophet. She's undignified, bad tempered, and only seventeen--not to mention that no prophet of Parne has ever been a girl. Worst of all, as the elders often warn, if she agrees to become the Infinite's prophet, Ela knows she will die young.

Istgard has turned their back on me. See the evil they do.

Yet after experiencing His presence, she can't imagine living without Him. Determined to follow the Infinite's voice, Ela accepts the sacred vinewood branch and is sent to bring the Infinite's word to a nation torn apart by war. Here she meets Kien, a young Traceland ambassador determined to bring his own justice for his oppressed people. As they form an unlikely partnership, Ela must surrender to her destiny . . . and determine how to balance the leading of her heart with the leading of the Infinite.

Will you accept the branch and speak my will? Will you be my prophet?

If you would like to read the first chapter of Prophet, go HERE.
