Sewing is delightful

Oh, the weather outside is frightful, but sewing is sew delightful.  I'm excited I get to participate in sewing this month.  I can't wait. Now I'm off to sew.  With below zero temps. Bummer Night of Sewing.....

I sewed last night with First Friday Night with Friends again.  It has been a long time since I've had a chance to really set down and sew.  I really miss it.  I mentioned in earlier post this week that I was going to work on a cover for my kitchen aid mixer.  I found a free tutorial online.  Anyway,  I'd been working real hard this week to get my material all quilted so I could finish my project last night. 

I was on a roll.   I had the main part pieced and all the quilting lines drawn. Then Thursday night I ran out of thread to finish quilting the last piece.

Sew I had to run to the store after work just to get my thread.  After sending daughter off to work I got busy.  Got all the quilting done!  Whee!  Started cutting out the pieces.  Nice it was all coming together. I like it when things go well.....Got all the piece cut and started pinning them together.  All of the sudden it happened.... yep things were going too smoothly......

What a BIG hit in the gut.  Can this be right?????  No....No.....Ugh!  Yep the pattern for the ends was about 2 and 1/2 inches too short.

Now, I'm trying to figure out how I can fix this??????  ARGH!  I think I have enough fabric to make the ends again, but I think I'll sleep on it and see if I can think of a creative solution before I go that route.  SEW BUMMED!!!! 

a years progress

My hubby has been wanting me to make him a quilt and I couldn't find anything that jumped out at me.  But then a year ago I found this fabric panel......

So I went online and looked on the web site and they had a pattern to make a quilt with the panel. 

A month ago I decided I needed to get it further than the bag and a thought.  ;P  So I sandwiched it and then went on vacation. 

The week vacation came to an end and reality set in.  So I started at the quilt again.  I've decided to work this one as a quilt as you go.  This week I've been working on quilting the center panel.

So here is where I started this First Friday night with Friends.....

I had one more star to quilt around. 

finished that...plus the top stitch line between the blue and red background. 

Then I had to take this....

for the next step in the quilt into this.....

I cut:  2- 2 & 3/8 inch strips, 20 - 3 inch squares, 100 - 2 & 3/8 inch squares and 32 - 2 & 3/8 x 4 & 1/2 inch rectangles. 

Now it is off to bed I go.

Hubby is at work, Daughter is out-of-town.  All is quiet on the home front.  Music is on.  I'm in comfy clothes and ready to get down to business.  Let the sewing begin!  YEAH!!!!!

Tonight's the night.....

I've bought myself WORK

I visited Lolly's Fabric Store in Shipshewana, IN while on vacation.  This is what I came out with.......

My mom said, "You do realize you're making work for yourself."  I never should have gone in there.  Oh, I have a hard time in any fabric place most places.  So I try to stay out.  Better get my nose to the grind.  I just started the work I bought myself on our 2014 summer vacation.

I know what I'm going to be doing this Friday Night.  .....

 

Rethinking my plan....ARGH!

I worked on my dad's walker carrier, but .... I'm thinking I have to rethink my plan.  It is too floppy for a walker and water cups.  ARGH! Since it is my own made up pattern guess I can do what I want with it.   But it has to work.  ;P 

I've added this as my project for July's lovely finishes.  It must get completed!

Sewing space here we come!

It's that time again.  And guess what????  I think I have the night to myself so I get to participate.  I'm going right now to clear my sewing space.  It was taken over by summer school stuff.  Summer school was over yesterday, so look out sewing here I come.
