"Fear not to go down into Egypt; for I will there make of thee a great nation: I will go down with thee into Egypt; and I will also surely bring thee up again."-Genesis 46:3,4

Jacob must have shuddered at the thought of leaving the land of his father's sojourning, and dwelling among heathen strangers. It was a new scene, and likely to be a trying one: who shall venture among couriers of a foreign monarch without anxiety? Yet the way was evidently appointed for him, and therefore he resolved to go. This is frequently the position of believers now-they are called to perils and temptations altogether untried: at such seasons let them imitate Jacob's example by offering sacrifices of prayer unto God, and seeking His direction; let them not take a step until they have waited upon the Lord for His blessing: then they will have Jacob's companion to be their friend and helper. How blessed to feel assured that the Lord is with us in all our ways, and condescends to go down into our humiliations and banishments with us! Even beyond the ocean our Father's love beams like the sun in its strength. We cannot hesitate to go where Jehovah promises His presence; even the valley of deathshade grows bright with the radiance of this assurance. Marching onwards with faith in their God, believers shall have Jacob's promise. They shall be brought up again, whether it be from the troubles of life or the chambers of death. Jacob's seed came out of Egypt in due time, and so shall all the faithful pass unscathed through the tribulation of life, and the terror of death. Let us exercise Jacob's confidence. "Fear not," is the Lord's command and His divine encouragement to those who at His bidding are launching upon new seas; the divine presence and preservation forbid so much as one unbelieving fear. Without our God we should fear to move; but when He bids us to, it would be dangerous to tarry. Reader, go forward, and fear not.

A Dog's Purpose..DVD giveaway

It's coming to theaters.... One may be near you.

January 27th

So....What exactly is a dog's purpose?????   I guess everyone has a different opinion about that.  A person that needs help seeing may think a dog's purpose is different than someone that needs help hearing or any other disability you need help with.  A child may see a dog's purpose from a different view point than an adult.  Companionship, or for sport (aka:  hunting) everyone may see things a little different.  We each have a story to tell.  What is your story with the furry canine family?  Do you have a fun memory?  Share it in a comment for a chance to win this giveaway.  Be sure to leave a way for me to contact you. I will draw a winner on Feb. 14th.

Based on the beloved bestselling novel by W. Bruce Cameron, A DOG’S PURPOSE, is a sweet and lovable family film that shares the soulful and surprising story of one devoted dog (voiced by Josh Gad) who finds the meaning of his own existence through the lives of the humans he teaches to laugh and love.  Told from the perspective of “everybody’s best friend” the film highlights the importance of familial bonds, and the unconditional love we have for our best friends.  The movie stars Dennis Quaid, Britt Robertson, K.J. Apa, and John Ortiz.

The Lord's Prayer by Rick Warren

http://www.zondervan.com/the-lord-s-prayer-9

Book Description

This iconic prayer is paired with flowing illustrations by award-winning artist Richard Jesse Watson and thoughtful insights by bestselling author Rick Warren, resulting in a book that rejuvenates the familiar prayer for a younger audience. Using poetic scripture from the King James Version, The Lord’s Prayer: Words of Hope and Happiness helps familiarize children with real biblical text while also presenting contemporary illustrations and insightful words that make this beautiful prayer come alive.

Rick Warren's book The Lord's Prayer:  Words of Hope and Happiness is a beautiful addition to add to your library.  I love the book because it uses the KJV words.  It is so hard to find a book that uses this version of scripture.  This book is geared toward 4-8 year olds.  I love how it uses the Bible text and then gives a few lines of meaning along beside the picture.  The Scripture text is included on the illustration in wavy form and very eye appealing.  There is also a one sentence prayer thanking God for something that has to do with the text.  This book will find it's way into the church library for sure.

Mary's Song by Susan Count

http://www.beachboundbooks.com/blogging-about-books/blog-tour-sign-ups-marys-song-by-susan-count

Title: Mary's Song (Dream Horse Adventure Book 1)
 Author: Susan Count
 Genre: Children's Fiction
 Number of Pages: 122
Publisher: Hastings Creations Group
 Release Date: October 20, 2016

Book DescriptionMary’s heart breaks over the pending destruction of a beautiful, but damaged filly. When life is not fair, the courageous challenge the obstacles. Twelve-year-old Mary was disabled at the age of four by the same virus that took the life of her mother. While she longs to have a horse of her own, she’s limited to reading horse books. A talented artist, she spends her days on a blanket in the grass sketching the horses at the farm next door. She falls in love with one of the foals and is outraged to learn the filly is considered worthless as it was born lame. Mary befriends and enlists the help of twelve-year-old Laura, whose family owns the horse farm. Against the better judgment of the farm manager, a brief reprieve is negotiated for the foal’s life. The girls conspire to raise money to save her, but time is running out. Sadly, it appears the expensive surgery the foal needs has little chance to correct her problem anyway. Mary isn’t about to give up. She sacrifices what she holds dear, including the trust of her papa, to gain her heart’s desire. Will she lose everything in her struggle to save the foal?
Mary's Song is a book of sweet friendship and courage.  I so totally get lost in this story.  If you have a youngster that loves reading horse books, they'll probably adore this book.  It's a story you feel like you're right there living in the moment.  Beautiful.  I will be adding this one to my classroom library.

About the Author: Susan Count

One day...I began to write with no preconceived ideas about anything. I’d read what I had written the day before and add another scene to the adventure. No one could have been more astounded than I was when it turned into a book. The whole process gave me great joy and restored my spirit after a season of loss. My motivation was my desire to bless one particular young lady with a story to show her a love relationship in a family, with the Lord, and with a horse. I truly thought the story would remain in a drawer until she was old enough to read it. Surprise.

I write at an antique secretary desk which belonged to the same grandmother who introduced me to horse books. The desk has secret compartments and occupies a glass room with a forest view. Bunnies and cardinals regularly interrupt my muse, as do my horses grazing in a clearing.

Though I am a rider and lover of horses, I make no claims of expertise in any riding discipline. I hope that my research keeps me from annoying those who would know.

The only thing more fun than riding might be writing horse adventure stories.
Saddle up and ride along!
